Welcome to Alternative Personal Training

My name is Michael Lloyd-Billington and I'm a Certified Integral Yoga Instructor (Levels I, II & III) and personal trainer with over 25 years' experience in the health & fitness fields.  I've had the pleasure of helping thousands of people of all ages and fitness achieve better health and vitality.  I offer one-on-one support for individuals looking for a simple, balanced approach to greater energy and wellness....

My Approach

We all know fitness and health impact every area of our lives -- our energy, our mood, and even our outlook.  And yet many of us settle for less than optimal health simply because we think we don't have the time.  I can help you build a simple routine you can do at home that will give you exceptional health and fitness with a minimum of time and equipment -- as little as 30 minutes, four times a week.  You can gain strength, stability, stamina, and energy to live the life you want to live....

If you've been frustrated in your attempts to become more fit, the first thing to know is the problem isn't you!  Current research has proven that conventional routines are actually the least effective way to get fit.  I can teach you the types of exercise that will improve your strength, energy, and over-all health in the least amount of time.  I'll also help you build a balanced program so that you can enjoy a full variety of activities, not just one or two....

What Alternative Personal Training Includes

Ideally for a healthy, active life we'd all like to have three things: to be strong, to have energy, and to feel comfortable in our bodies.  My goal is to offer support and guidance for people who'd like to learn the simplest and most effective ways to develop all three of these in a balanced manner.  If this is your goal, I feel I can offer a simple but exceptional program....

 

But of course we all have different issues when it comes to health and fitness.  If your main goal is to lose weight, put on muscle, or simply have more energy, I can help you make that a priority.  Again, the point of personalized training is that it's tailored to your body and to your needs.  Based on your interests and goals, training can include:

  • Personalized Yoga:  Develop a simple practice that fits your body and that you can do at home.  Receive answers to your questions from an experienced instructor who has worked with all degrees of flexibility and fitness.
  • Optimal Cardiovascular Conditioning & Endurance:  Learn the fastest ways to build endurance and energy while reducing wear and tear.  Burn more fat and build stamina in far less time.  You'll learn how to enhance fitness and over-all health in just 20 minutes a few times a week....
  • Functional Strength Training: Build useable strength and stability with a minimum of equipment -- as little as a single dumbbell.  Learn simple, effective routines that don't require a trip to the gym or memorizing complex programs.  If you've wanted to get stronger but have been turned off by conventional weight-lifting, I can teach you a refreshingly simple and powerful approach -- again, just 20 minutes a few times a week....
  • Enhanced Nutrition (including vegetarian, vegan, raw foods, and sports nutrition):  Knowledegeable guidance in simple ways to improve energy and general health.  Learn practical steps for weight-loss, sports performance, or over-all wellness -- all at your own pace and without judgement or pressure....
  • Supporting Practices: Learn complimentary approaches that can aid you in achieving your health and fitness goals, including breathwork, stress management, and mental training for sports performance.

Again, you can start with a few aspects of training or just one, progressing at your own pace and as far as you want to go....
